StemWave Therapy

Kickstart the biological healing process by sending healing agents to help reduce inflammation and repair damaged tissue in the injured area, without the need for invasive procedures or medication. StemWave is a new technology designed to help patients with musculoskeletal conditions by increasing blood flow and reducing inflammation.

How Does StemWave Therapy Work?

StemWave delivers focused waves through a high-energy electrical discharge in water. The pulse wave energy is delivered through a focused applicator head in the form of a pulse wave/pressure wave. The applicator head, instead of being more parabolic as is the case with unfocused ESWT, is angled to focus the pulse wave to a smaller area of tissue. This allows for better penetration as the size of the impedance zone is decreased when applying similar amounts of intensity.

Even after the energy hits the terminal point as directed by the applicator head, the pulse waves can continue and treat to a deeper penetration level. This allows for energy distribution that can be used for deeper penetration to aid in healing.

What are the Benefits of StemWave Technology?

StemWave is a non-invasive, drug-free treatment for pain and inflammation, and offers patients results without surgery, medication, or major side effects. StemWave’s versatility makes it a great option for a wide variety of patients and conditions. It is an effective alternative to surgery, injections, or medications. As a safe non-invasive option, it doesn’t require any downtime and has minimal or no side effects.

Some of the benefits from StemWave technology include:

  • Accelerate Healing
  • Improve Blood Flow
  • Decrease Pain
  • Decrease Inflammation
  • Improve Range Of Motion
  • 3-8 Minute Treatments

Is StemWave Technology Safe?

StemWave technology is completely safe. Results from a previous study state that extracorporeal pulse wave therapy is an effective modality in relieving pain intensity and increasing the functionality and quality of life in various tendinopathies such as plantar fasciitis, elbow tendinopathy, Achilles tendinopathy, and rotator cuff tendinopathy.

What Does StemWave Treat?

StemWave is most commonly used with chronic and acute MSK-based conditions by our doctors throughout the country; this includes knees, shoulders, hands, feet, hips, elbows, and more.

The device produces a shockwave which is a therapeutic sound wave traveling at over 3,500 mph deep into the tissue that initiates a cascade of biochemical responses that initiate the healing process.

What Does the Treatment Feel Like?

At the start of the treatment, a gel is applied to the surface where your pain occurs. The StemWave applicator is applied to the treatment area delivering focused waves. This treatment is non-invasive and does not require anesthesia or numbing creams.

How Long Does the Treatment Take?

Each appointment typically lasts between 10 to 15 minutes, depending on the diagnosis or treatment area. Care plans typically consist of 8 to 12 sessions. Patients often notice significant improvement after 3 to 4 treatments, although many experience noticeable benefits even after the first session. Subsequent treatments contribute to ongoing improvement and sustained results.
